A striking sculptural chandelier from the Florentine school, dating to circa 1970.
Executed in patinated brass with a characteristic gold and ivory finish, this piece embodies the theatrical elegance of Italian Baroque Revival design. The surface shows a soft, hand-applied white-gold patina that enhances the sculptural detailing and gives the chandelier depth and warmth.
Three dynamically modelled cherub figures extend outward, each gracefully supporting a Pâte de Verre glass bowl. The glass shades possess a soft, velvety translucency and subtle material depth. When illuminated, they diffuse light in a warm, atmospheric glow — far more nuanced than ordinary satin glass.
The central body features an animated composition of additional putti figures, creating vertical movement and dramatic presence. The chandelier is suspended on three chains, reinforcing its architectural balance.
