Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Chandelier with Frosted Cut Glass & Rose Shades, circa 1900–1920
Exceptional antique chandelier from the early 20th century, combining finely worked bronze with beautifully frosted and cut glass.
The centrepiece is a substantial satin-frosted glass bowl decorated with deeply cut geometric and star-shaped motifs. Three elegant curved bronze arms extend from the body, each carrying an unusual frosted glass shade shaped like an open rose.
Particularly beautiful is the finely pierced bronze gallery surrounding the central bowl. Floral and foliate ornaments, delicate beaded borders and the naturally aged bronze patina give the chandelier an unmistakably authentic antique appearance.
The chandelier is suspended from three decorative chains leading to its ornamental ceiling canopy. When illuminated, the frosted glass creates a soft warm light while the polished cut decoration catches and reflects the light beautifully.
