France, circa 1970
This exceptional six-light chandelier from France combines classical Louis XVI elegance with the refined decorative richness of the 1970s.
Crafted from solid massive bronze and weighing approximately 9 kg, the chandelier impresses with its sculptural depth and finely executed detailing. The warm, noble patina enhances its historical character and gives the piece a timeless presence.
The central column is formed by a beautifully modelled cherub figure standing gracefully upon an ornamented base. The cherub holds an elegant S-shaped scroll element that flows naturally into the upper structure, creating a harmonious vertical composition. Above the figure rises a richly layered crown element adorned with shell motifs, oval medallions and delicate tassel-like ornaments.
Six gracefully curved arms extend outward, decorated with rosettes and fine foliate details. The openwork design lends lightness and movement despite the chandelier’s opulent ornamentation.
Particularly striking are the large, diamond-shaped faceted crystals set within ornate bronze frames. These are complemented by additional crystal drops suspended beneath the arms and the central body. When illuminated, the crystals shimmer softly and reflect subtle rainbow hues.
